At the Dwelling Place Church, we know people often have questions regarding baptism.
Why should I be baptized? I’ve already been baptized, do I have to do it again? Does it matter if you are sprinkled or dunked?
Answers to these commonly asked questions are found in the Bible. We believe it clearly teaches us that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a Christ-follower to communicate to the world their heart-felt commitment to Christ.
Water baptism is a statement of faith: my old life is behind me - I am a new person, with a new life. It is a sign of repentance - repentance means change - a change so drastic that the old person is "buried." Water baptism is a way of giving testimony to what has happened inwardly, and a clear commitment to turn from the old life.
WATER BAPTISM
- Outwardly demonstrates what has happened inwardly
- Helps you to grasp the reality of the spiritual truth that the old "you" has died.
- Is a sign of obedience
WATER BAPTISM IS FOR OUR BENEFIT - NOT GOD'S.
